Walks for Wellbeing

In 2025, we’re inviting you to 'Walk for Wellbeing' with Willow Burn Hospice and the Walk & Talk Trust.

Last year, Willow Burn became a sponsor of the Lanchester Heritage 100 Walk to show the charity's commitment to the health and wellbeing of the wider community, as well as patients, staff, volunteers and their families.

The Lanchester Heritage100 Walk begins at the Newbiggin Lane entrance to the Lanchester Valley Railway Path and forms a figure of route. Initially following the railway path before veering off track to the Smallhope Burn as it winds through Dora's Wood. The route then continues along the path until it ventures through the Malton Nature Reserve, circling around Biggen Farm before returning to the Lanchester Railway Path. The walk ends with a final detour from the path taking you through Lanchester Village.

This walk, sponsored by Willow Burn, is part of Walk & Talk Trust’s Heritage 100 Walks.

The Heritage 100 Lanchester walk is easy to navigate by downloading the route via Komoot. The route is also guided by the carefully placed way markers by the Walk & Talk Trust, making it easier to follow without relying on technology.

In January Willow Burn held our first 'Walk for Wellbeing' which was hugely popular and is just the first in a series of walks in 2025, you can also get involved in Walkies for Willow Burn with your furry friends.
