On 6 October 2023, Ken lost his short and aggressive battle with liver cancer. At the end, Ken was cared for by the incredible team at Willow Burn Hospice.
Ken loved a holiday, and his favourite place in the world was Ibiza. The family returned to Ibiza in June 2024 to celebrate what would have been his 75th birthday in his favourite spot.
In honour of Papa Mitford, and his love for Ibiza, his daughters Laura and Elisabeth walked the distance of Newcastle to Ibiza - 1,500 miles (or 3541634 steps), between the months of January to June 2024. The sisters walked 7 miles every day in all weathers, with the walking challenge ending with a pint in Ibiza on his birthday!
