Staff, volunteers and supporters of Willow Burn Hospice raised over £2,200 at the Nurses’ Spring Fair on Saturday 14 May.

The popular event was held at the hospice and included a cake stall, raffles, lawn games, face painting and tombolas, as well as craft, plant and gift stalls. A very special moment at the fair was when a beautiful quilt made in memory of former Willow Burn nurse, Anne Bestford, was auctioned for £320. This beautiful quilt was donated to Willow Burn by John Bestford, in memory of his dear wife. Anne was a long-time member of the very talented Consett Quilting Group and when Anne passed away John donated all her spare material to the group. They decided to use the donations to make this stunning quilt in Anne’s memory.

A very big thank you to everyone who donated raffle and tombola prizes, those who volunteered on the day (including representatives from Lloyds Bank Consett and Newcastle Building Society) and to all our supporters who came along.

The next Nurses’ Fair will be held on Saturday 26 November 2022.
