The countdown has begun! It’s hard to believe, but we’re now less than a month away from this year’s Great North Run – the world’s most iconic half-marathon.
On Sunday 7 September, an amazing team of supporters will be lacing up their trainers and going the distance to raise vital funds for Willow Burn Hospice
In the lead-up to the big day, we’ll be shining a spotlight on some of our incredible #TeamWillowBurn runners, sharing their inspiring stories and saying a huge heartfelt thank you for supporting their local hospice
Today, we’re proud to share Jess and Lucy’s story:
Willow Burn Hospice has been a huge part of one of our best friend Emily’s life since her dad, John, was admitted in March 2024.
The team have provided incredible care ever since, and he remains under their care during his final months. The compassion shown at Willow Burn doesn’t just touch the lives of patients, but ripples out to their families and loved ones too.
As NHS physiotherapists, we both see firsthand the difference hospice care can make to people at the end of their life. Willow Burn is a vital local resource – and with charity funding playing such a key role, the Great North Run means the world to us.
This will be our biggest challenge yet – we’re not runners – but we’re honoured to take it on for such an important cause.
Any donations, big or small, are so appreciated.”
