Samuel joined Willow Burn two years ago as a gardening volunteer and then went on to join the kitchen team. Back in September, Samuel left Willow Burn to start employment at Morrisons, but he said he would be back and boy, did he mean it!

On Sunday 20 October Samuel took part in the Yorkshire Marathon. This challenging 26.2 mile race saw participants start and finish at the university of York before taking in some of the stunning sights both in the historic city and the surrounding Yorkshire countryside.

Samuel battled howling winds and heavy rain to complete the marathon in an incredible 4 hours and 11 minutes!

So far, Samuel has raised £280.00 for Willow Burn Hospice, with donations still coming in.

This incredible amount will fund a Willow Burn Nurse in our Helen McArdle In-Patient wing for 14 hours in November.

Thank you, Samuel – you are an inspiration!
