Between Saturday 25 February and Saturday 4 March, the costs to operate the Helen McArdle In-Patient Wing have been donated by the MCcrory Family in memory of Tom and Maureen MCcrory.
Here is the MCcrory’s story...
“We felt really blessed when we heard Mam was lucky enough to get some respite at Willow Burn. Our lovely Dad Tom had also just passed nice months earlier and we felt we could relax knowing Mam had such good care and a lovely environment, as it had been such an emotional rollercoaster.
Mam received the best care at Willow Burn with amazing family support, dedicated staff and volunteers. Even though mam had amazing care, we realised mam wasn’t going to improve and her prognosis was not good. Mam passed away peacefully on 17 December 2021, devastating our family.
Boxing Day 2021, only nine days after mam’s passing, the family were all together and Caroline suggested that we do some fundraising as a thank you so that other families could experience the same care. With us being such a big family, it was decided that one fundraising challenge wouldn’t be enough and that we would challenge ourselves to a whole year of fundraising events. That is how the MCcrory Year of Fundraising Challenge began.
Our family can never thank Willow Burn and the team enough for the amazing care and compassion our Mam received. We all take comfort in knowing mam could not of been in a better place to spend her last days. For that we will be eternally grateful."
