On Saturday 16 April the costs to operate the Helen McArdle In-Patient Wing have been donated in loving memory of Peter Shadforth.
Peter Shadforth was the first born child of Malcolm and Valerie Shadforth, born on the 22nd of March 1970. Peter was always an adventurous person, and at the tender age of 16, he left home and joined the army and see the world. He saw active duty with two tours of Northern Ireland and the first gulf war.
Peter then hung up his army hat and settled into civilian life. He found a second family when he took a job driving for Warburton’s. He delivered bread across the Northeast for 20 years and was always happy and smiling no matter what. Peter would always call everyone 'Youngen' no matter their age and touched so many people's lives with his kindness, thoughtfulness and he was always willing to help anyone in need.
Peter is deeply loved and missed by his family, and Willow Burn Hospice holds a special place in their hearts for the extraordinary care they gave to Peter while he was there.
