We are delighted to share news of a brand-new partnership between County Durham Furniture Help Scheme (CDFHS) and Willow Burn Hospice, which will bring fresh opportunities for customers, donors, and our community.
This collaboration strengthens the charitable retail sector in the local area by combining CDFHS’ specialist furniture offering with Willow Burn’s well-established charity shops in Consett, Stanley and Lanchester.
Solving a Shared Challenge
While Willow Burn Hospice runs a network of thriving charity shops, space limitations mean they cannot currently accept or sell larger furniture donations. At the same time, CDFHS operates a dedicated furniture shop, with the expertise and facilities to handle and sell these bigger items.
By joining forces, both organisations will ensure that generous donations of larger furniture pieces can find a new home, raising vital funds for two much-loved local charities.
How the Partnership Works
As part of this initiative, digital tablets will be installed in Willow Burn’s Consett and Stanley stores. These will allow customers to browse our full inventory of quality, affordable furniture directly from the shop floor.
In addition:
Customers looking to donate large furniture items will be directed to CDFHS, ensuring that no donation goes to waste.
Sales and profits generated through these channels will be shared, supporting both Willow Burn Hospice’s compassionate care services and CDFHS’s mission to help local families in need.
A Win for the Durham Community
This partnership is more than just about sharing resources—it’s about maximising community support. Donors will find it easier than ever to give, customers will have more choice, and both charities will benefit from a stronger, more sustainable retail operation.
Together, CDFHS and Willow Burn Hospice are proud to build on their shared values of compassion, sustainability, and service to the local community.
We can’t wait to see the positive impact this partnership will have, and we invite everyone to support by visiting Willow Burn’s shops, or by donating and shopping at CDFHS
