We are delighted to share that this year’s Willow Burn Gala has raised an incredible £22,000 — enough to fund more than 1,100 hours of specialist nursing care for people living with life‑limiting illnesses in our community.
Held at the South Causey Inn and hosted by North East comedian Steffen Peddie, the Gala brought together supporters, partners and friends of Willow Burn for an evening of celebration, reflection and generosity. Thanks to everyone who attended, donated, bid, sponsored or shared their support, we are able to continue providing the compassionate end‑of‑life and palliative care that our community relies on.
“A huge difference to the care we can provide”
Rachel Quince, Deputy Chief Executive and Head of Fundraising & Marketing at Willow Burn, shared her thanks:
“As a small hospice, we are incredibly grateful for every single donation we receive. The Gala is a chance to celebrate the amazing work our healthcare team delivers every day, and to raise the vital funds needed to keep these services running.
It costs £1.6 million each year to provide care at Willow Burn and just £20 funds one hour of nursing in our in‑patient wing. To raise more than £22,000 is extraordinary, and we are truly thankful for the kindness and generosity shown by our community.”
Support from Berry’s Jewellers
For the fourth year running, our Gala’s headline sponsor was Berry’s Jewellers, whose continued support has had a remarkable impact on our fundraising.
Berry’s donated two stunning pieces of jewellery to this year’s diamond raffle—
• 18ct White Gold diamond cluster earrings
• 18ct White Gold diamond cluster pendant and chain
together valued at £7,190.
The raffle alone raised £5,000, taking Berry’s total fundraising for Willow Burn to over £30,000.
David Nicholson, Manager of Berry’s Newcastle store, shared why supporting Willow Burn means so much to him:
“My mother spent her last days at Willow Burn, so I’ve experienced first‑hand the incredible care the nursing team provides. It’s always a pleasure to give something back so other families can receive the same level of support. We’re thrilled to have passed the £30,000 mark.”
