We were very privileged to have some incredible supporters taking on the world's most iconic half marathon on Sunday 7 September 2025 to raise funds for Willow Burn Hospice. We’re celebrating our amazing Team Willow Burn runners by sharing their journeys and saying a heartfelt thank you for every mile they covered in aid of hospice care.

This is Danielle's Story:

This September I will be taking part in the GNR to raise money for Willow Burn Hospice in memory of my amazing Grandad, William Burdon.  He was one in a million...always willing to help, he loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren very much.

He overcame many struggles with his health over the years but never complained and always fought through, but unfortunately, he lost his last fight with liver cancer on 27th Aug 2024. My grandad spent the final 4 weeks of his life in Willow Burn Hospice where they took such good care of him until his final moments.

This is why I wanted to give something back; as a huge thank you to the Hospice and the staff, I will forever be grateful.

Now I'm in no way a runner, now or ever so I wanted to do something that was out of my comfort zone and the GNR is just that...I just want to make my grandad proud.
